The Ralph L. Bernard and
Florence A. Bernard Foundation

Ralph and Florence Bernard were high school sweethearts and graduated St. Vincent High School in 1965. Understanding the importance of education and having a strong Catholic upbringing, Ralph created The Ralph L Bernard and Florence A. Bernard Foundation (“Bernard Foundation”) in 1991 shortly after Florence lost her battle with breast cancer.

School was not easy for Ralph. Struggling to get B’s, Ralph’s grades were interspersed with the occasional C. He was determined and worked very hard. It was at Notre Dame that he truly appreciated how easy it was for the students who were smart. They were the students who received the scholarships. They were the students chosen for the best internships. In short, they were the shining stars. No one paid much attention to those middle-of-the-road students who just had to work hard for every B grade.

The Bernard Foundation focuses on providing scholarships to “middle of the road” children – who, much like Ralph himself, work hard but perhaps are only B students. Ralph experienced first hand what it was like to work hard and struggle to get Bs and understood that those students get overlooked.

The Procacci Family Foundation

The Michael J. & Joseph G. Procacci Scholarship was established by the extended families of Vincenza and Antonio Procacci to honor the memory of brothers Michael and Joseph who were called home in 2017 (6 days apart at ages 94 and 93, respectively). Michael and Joseph’s legacy for success in business and generosity in philanthropy is exemplary going back to the establishing of Procacci Brothers Sales Corporation in 1948 with a third brother Pat. Theirs is a marvelous Camden success story!

Summer Learning Loss & The Education Gap

Summer programs like The Joseph Fund's are essential to low-income communities, especially Camden - the community with the highest dropout rate in the area. Summer Learning Loss results in students starting the school year at lower grade-level equivalency than they ended the year - further widening the education gap.
